The Position

As Manager Indirect Tax you will prepare and manage the Indirect Tax recurring reporting obligations of 45+ German Boehringer Ingelheim legal entities with regards to VAT, Energy Tax, Electricity Tax and Alcohol Tax, using a state-of-the-art VAT-reporting tool. You will be the first point of contact for our internal business partners for day-to-day Indirect Tax requests as well as for our external business partners such as auditors from the tax and customs authorities.


In addition, we count on your proficiency in SAP, accounting, and data processing systems to proactively identify opportunities for technical and structural improvements and drive further digitalization and automation.Become part of our dynamic Indirect Tax team and support us in shaping and automating the global Indirect Tax footprint of the Boehringer Ingelheim group.


Aufgaben
  • In this role, you will be responsible for independently preparing VAT and Excise Duty recurring reports and returns. This includes conducting checks in SAP, BIX@, SAP Tax Compliance, and our automated third-party VAT reporting solution.
  • You will take on accounting tasks related to VAT returns and year-end closing activities. Additionally, you will contribute to the enhancement of our VAT and Excise Duty compliance by developing and refining checks within our IT landscape. This will involve creating and managing system change requests.
  • As the Manager Indirect Tax, you will have the responsibility of managing day-to-day requests in the field of Indirect Tax. This includes VAT and Excise Duties, as well as Energy tax, Electricity tax, and Alcohol tax. You will also be responsible for monitoring and managing the Indirect Tax service mailbox.
  • You will provide support during VAT and Excise Duty audits, inventory-taking, and communication with the competent tax and customs authorities. Additionally, you will assist with the recurring year-end close activities.
  • In this role, you will be responsible for preparing training materials, presentations, and conducting knowledge transfer and update sessions.
  • You will play a supportive role in tax technology projects, which includes identifying and implementing automation opportunities and initiatives.

Profil
  • Diploma/University degree with focus on Business Administration/ Law/ Economics or comparable major, ideally specialized in Tax or vocational training in the area of tax/ accounting plus several years of relevant work experience
  • VAT and Excise Duty subject matter expertise, achieved through several years of relevant tax experience in-house or as a consultant
  • Very strong technical and accounting in-depth knowledge regarding VAT reporting activities in Excel and SAP. Additionally, a fundamental understanding of Excise Duties is recommended.
  • Good organization, communication, and management skills
  • Hands-on mentality and solution-oriented
  • Fluent in English
